Akram accuses CEC of playing a role in the formula less-immoran Blogging Sole

Peshawar:

Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI), the central information secretary, Sheikh Waqas Akram, alleged that the chief commissioner of elections (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja had played a central role in the implementation of the “Minus-Imran formula”.

Speaking at a press conference in Peshawar, Akram said that no preceding elections in the history of the country had taken such a controversial position.

He stressed that the superior judicial power had repeatedly raised objections to the decisions of the CEC and, in response, the head of the PTI, Omar Ayub, had filed a reference against the commissioner of the Supreme Judicial Council.

Akram also said that PTI had finished its bases concerning the appointment of a new CEC and soon urged the Prime Minister to form a parliamentary committee on the issue.

Addressing the question of a letter which would have been sent to the military chief, Akram confirmed that it had indeed been written by the founder of PTI. “The message was transmitted to those for which it was intended,” he said. He also criticized the role of CEC in the “Senate delay” in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and the allocation of seats reserved for women.

He also condemned the ongoing repression against the members of the PTI, alleging that illegal arrests took place in Punjab and Balutchistan while the party offices were forcibly closed.

Akram announced that supporters of the PTI would meet on a national scale on February 8 to observe a “dark day” and ensure the success of the planned gathering.
