The owner of Facebook Meta Platforms plans to carry out his dismissals on the scale of the company scheduled for next week while advancing with the accelerated hiring of automatic learning engineers, he told employees of internal memos seen by Reuters Friday.

Opinions go to employees losing their jobs from 5 am, local time on Monday in most countries, including in the United States, according to one of the posts, written by the People Gale chief of Meta.

Employees in Germany, France, Italy and the Netherlands will be exempt from cuts “due to local regulations”, while those of more than a dozen other countries across Europe, Asia and Africa will receive their notifications between February 11 and February 18, it says.

A Meta spokesperson refused to comment on the posts.

The company confirmed last month that it planned to cut around 5% of its “lower interpreters” and to fulfill certain positions at least. Friday memo, in which Gale described the “performance ending” cuts, was reported for the first time by Information.

Unlike previous dismissals across the company, Meta planned to keep its offices open on Monday and made no update providing more details on decisions, Gale said.

On Friday, a separate memo, published by engineering VP for monetization, asked employees to help an accelerated job process for automatic learning engineers and other “commercial” engineering roles.

This process will take place between February 11 and March 13, Fan said in this position.

“Thank you for your continuous support by helping us achieve our accelerated hiring goals and better align with our company’s priorities for 2025.”
