The total salary of the president of NEPRA is now Rs 3.25 million, and the wages of certain senior officials of the NEPRA reached Rs 2.95 million. The revised compensation package includes a basic salary of RS773,000.

According to Express News, NEPRA officials have approved allocations for themselves on the basis of judicial benefits of judges, with a regulatory allowance ranging from RS 631,000 to 700,000 rupees per month.

In addition, NEPRA officers received ad hoc help from Rs 587,000 to Rs650,000 for 2024, while for 2023, they were entitled to ad hoc repair from Rs 544,000 to 600,000.

The report also reveals that for 2022, agents will receive a monthly house rent allowance from 105,000 to Rs116,000, while for 2021, it varies from Rs 70,000 to Rs77 300 as ad hoc relief.

Sources indicate that NEPRA officials have made these changes without approval from the government. Most members and the president of NEPRA are generally retired bureaucrats.

Currently, the president of NEPRA and two members of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balutchistan are retired bureaucrats.

A few days ago, the National Assembly adopted “the members of the Parliament (wages and allowances) (amendment), 2025”, approving a 200% increase in wages and advantages of the legislators.

The president of NA, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, led the session, where six new invoices were also introduced, in particular those concerning environmental protection and compulsory screening for thalassemia. These bills were referred to the relevant committees concerned for a more in -depth examination.

Under the bill of modification, the wages and allowances of the members of the Parliament were made equivalent to those of the federal secretaries. The monthly salary and the allowances for the AMNs and the senators have been set at RS519,000.

Meanwhile, the recent decision of the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) denied a significant relief of Karachi electricity consumers in their monthly electricity adjustment, arousing strong criticism from the Chamber of Commerce and Karachi industry (KCCI).

KCCI President Muhammad, Javed Balwani, condemned Nepra’s decision, declaring that he had deprived Karachi consumers of essential relief. He criticized the Nepra and K-Electric (KE) for not having offered the advantages promised to consumers.
