On Wednesday, at least seven passengers were killed in a tragic incident in the Baloutchistan region, according to the assistant commissioner of Barkhan.
The attack occurred on the national road in the Rarkan region, where unidentified armed attackers arrested a passenger bus and have recourse to air layoffs, said assistant commissioner Khadim Hussain.
The armed men then climbed on the bus, checked the ID cards of the passengers and forcibly taken seven individuals to a neighboring mountain. Shortly after, shots were heard.
When local law organizations, including the strength of surveys, arrived at the scene, they discovered the bodies of the seven passengers kidnapped.
The bodies were moved to a neighboring Rakni hospital, according to the Levies force. The deceased belonged to different cities in Punjab.
According to the Bus Service Office, at least 45 people were aboard the unfortunate bus, on the way from Quetta to Faisalabad.
According to a passenger, Zeeshan Mustafa, a resident of Burewala, who was on the way to Multan, the terrorists escorted his brother after checking his identity card.
The armed men were ten to 12, said Zeeshan, adding that all the terrorists transported Kalashnikovs.
The authorities completed the area and launched a research operation to find the authors. After the incident, the circulation of two -way vehicles on the national motorway, which links the Punjab to Balutchistan, was suspended.
Authors to wear justice: Baloutchistan CM
The chief minister of Balutchistan, Sarfaraz Bugti, strongly condemned the brutal murder of seven passengers to Barkhan, describing him as an “odious and reprehensible act”.
“Terrorists are targeting innocent and unarmed civilians,” said CM Bugti, reacting to the tragedy.
“This attack loose by the enemies of peace is intolerable, and they will be encountered with a strong answer.”
He also pointed out that Pakistani martyring officials will be brought to justice.
After the attack, the security forces, including FC and samples, quickly arrived at the scene and launched a research operation to find the authors.
Balutchistan government spokesperson said the security forces are actively pursuing the terrorists.
No group has yet claimed the responsibility of the attack. Police launched the incident investigations.
Barkhan’s tragedy occurs almost a week after a terrorist attack in Harnai where 11 workers were killed in the explosion, according to Harnai’s deputy commissioner Hazrat Wali Kakar.
The country experienced a sharp increase in terrorist attacks in January 2025, increasing by 42% compared to the previous month, according to data published by Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), a reflection group.
The data revealed that at least 74 militant attacks were registered nationally, resulting in 91 deaths, including 35 members of security staff, 20 civilians and 36 activists. 117 other people were injured, including 53 members of the security forces, 54 civilians and 10 activists.
KP remained the most affected province, followed by Balutchistan. In KP’s established districts, activists led 27 attacks, leading to 19 deaths, including 11 security staff, six civilians and two activists.
The tribal districts of KP (old Fata) witnessed 19 attacks, resulting in 46 deaths, including 13 members of the security staff, eight civilians and 25 activists.
