Islamabad ‘:
Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to reset links with Afghanistan have encountered a dead end because the brewing of differences within the Taliban has made it difficult for Islamabad to have a significant commitment with Kabul.
Familiar sources with development declared Tuesday at The Express Tribune at this stage, there are practically no contacts between the two countries. One of the main reasons is that the situation in the power corridors of Afghanistan is “disorderly” and that Pakistan does not know who to talk to Kabul.
The differences in differences within the Taliban management have been tours for months. Although the Taliban denied such speculations, sources in Islamabad said that “everything is not going” within the militant group which seized power in the neighboring country in August 2021.
We think that there is a power struggle between the Kandhari group, led by the Taliban leader Hibatullah Akhundzada and the Haqqani network, led by Sirajuddin Haqqani.
The Acting Afghan Interior Minister went to the United Arab Emirates last month and Saudi Arabia. However, since then, there has been no news on his return to the country. Likewise, the Afghan Foreign Deputy Minister Sher Abbas Stanikzai has been absent from the scene for several weeks.
Stanikzai had criticized the decree of the Taliban chief prohibiting the education of girls and also urged the Afghans not to follow him blindly. It was reported that the Taliban chief ordered his arrest, but fled the country.
In order to dispel the printing last week, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, Mullah Yaqoob and the Taliban army chief were seen together during an event in Kabul. However, Sirajuddin Haqqani and Stanikzai were visible by their absence.
Sources here said there were several factors behind the growing flaw among the ranks of the Taliban. The main stumbling block is the question of banning girls’ education and engagement with the outside world.
Amir Taliban is categorical not to raise the ban on education for girls while moderate factions, including networking policies of the Haqqani network which respond to the concerns of the international community.
President Donald Trump’s decision to suspend all kinds of humanitarian and foreign aid has also aggravated the problem of the Afghan government. Before the suspension, Afghanistan obtained $ 60 million per week under humanitarian aid.
Since the Taliban’s return in August 2021, the United States has pumped $ 3.5 billion in Afghanistan. This helped the Taliban regime maintain the Afghan economy afloat. But the suspension of funding has now put them in a difficult situation.
The Taliban government has trouble managing the exchange rate and paying wages to employees. The moderate factions in the Taliban row blamed the wrinkles of the waste.
