The main suspect in the assault on two citizens of the Karachi boats area area on February 19 was identification as Nawabzada Shahzain Marri, son of a feudal lord influence Balutchistan.
In response to the attack, police in the southern Karachi area carried out night raids in two different places in the Karachi defense area. During these operations, the police arrested seven security guards and recovered modern weapons.
According to the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South, Syed Asad Raza, investigations are underway to determine if the weapons entered are authorized.
While the police managed to apprehend the attackers’ security agents, the main suspect, Shahzain Marri, managed to flee from Quetta after the assault.
He also said that among the arrested security guards are Ghaus Bakhsh, Jalad Khan, Ali Zain, Hassan and others. The security guards arrested are Shahzain Marri’s personal bodyguards.
Police contacted the Balutchistan government to get help to capture Marri, and efforts to stop other people involved in the assault are underway.
The incident, which was captured on video, saw armed men attacking a passenger from the civil car after reversing their vehicle in the victim’s automobile.
According to the victim’s complaint, six to seven armed men were involved in the assault.
The asiabants were also accused of being under the influence of drugs.
The victims of the attack included Barkat Soomro, the deputy information secretary of the PPP Youth Organization Karachi Division and his friend Waqas.
Soomro said that after parking their vehicle near Boat Basin Food Street, the two were followed by an approaching car. After giving the way to the vehicle, the car reversed and stopped next to theirs.
Several armed men then emerged from the car and began to attack Soomro and his friend.
Soomro said that when he questioned the attackers, he had not received any explanation and one of them would have threatened to shoot him in his eyes.
Soomro then expressed his concerns concerning the growing culture of impunity in Karachi, especially in the wealthy areas.
SIDH government spokesperson Sadia Javed has promised that measures will be taken against those who have illegal firearms in Karachi, strengthening government’s commitment to braking violent incidents in the province.
