Rawalpindi:
Judge Chaudhry Abdul Aziz, serving at the Rawalpindi bench of the LHC, submitted his resignation to President Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday, asking for his immediate acceptance.
After his resignation, he stopped carrying out his judicial functions and informed the LHC chief judge, Aalia Neelum, of her decision. In his letter of resignation, judge Aziz cited personal commitments as a reason for resignation.
The president of Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) and the main lawyers expressed their surprise as to his resignation, calling for this a significant loss for the judicial power.
Judge Chaudhry Abdul Aziz was appointed LHC judge in November 2016 and has been used in this title for the past eight and a half years. During his mandate, he made decisions on a record of 40,000 cases.
He ranked 19th on the list of judges of seniority and was to retire on September 8, 2033, which means that he had eight years left in his judicial career. Known for his professionalism and independence, he was considered as a judge who did not succumb to any external pressure.
