Islamabad:
PPP president Bilawal Bhutto Zardari excluded the possibility of becoming the Prime Minister on Tuesday for a half-time in the current configuration, saying that his party had already rejected such a proposal during government training talks after the 2024 general elections.
In addition, Bilawal revealed that the PPP had not been part of the federal firm despite the latest inductions because the level of confidence between the two main coalition partners – the PPP and the PML -N in power – was not so high even after the entry of the second year.
Bilawal spoke to the media of his room in the Parliament after the session of the National Assembly, which was a meeting of condolences in memory of the deceased member of the National Assembly Nawab Yousuf Talpur.
Bilawal said PPP did not support the concept of “mid-term prime minister” when he sat with the PML-N to discuss the contours of the government’s post-general elections. “We did not come to this agreement; we rejected it,” he said.
“Neither the level of confidence was so much so at the time of government formation nor after a year when the Pakistani peoples party could officially be part of the government,” he said. “Our level of confidence has not yet reached the stadium where the PPP can join the government.”
Answering a question, Bilawal said he was expecting Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif honors agreed base points with the PPP in the context of their political understanding. The Prime Minister asked his team to “tackle our grievances at yesterday’s meeting,” he added.
Meanwhile, Bilawal said President Zardari had a historic speech during the joint parliamentary session on Monday. In his speech, President Zardari clearly highlighted the government’s unilateral policies, in particular the decision to take new industrial channels, he added.
“The government is under pressure due to the issue (channels),” said Bilawal, “and the decision should be revised and resolved.” Bilawal added that there was no reason why the government did not accept the suggestions presented by President Zardari in his parliamentary speech.
Regarding the coming budget, Bilawal said that he hoped that “the PPP and the PML-N, according to their agreement, would collect it collectively with the PSDP (Public Sector Development Program) for the four provinces”.
Regarding the Iftar dinner with Shehbaz, Bilawal said that it was grateful to him to have welcomed the PPP delegation. He said inflation was the most important issue, on which the parties challenged the elections, and now that the indicators improved.
He added that the PPP had expressed its concerns, including the situation of the law and the order in Balutchistan and the KP. Bilawal said he had asked the Prime Minister to signal the KP government to solve this problem. It is also the responsibility of the Federation to deal with these questions, because they could not abandon KP to the whims of the current provincial regime.
Answering various questions, Bilawal said it was media responsibility to disseminate the truth only and that “opposition propaganda should not be repeated”. He said the PPP was the first part to raise his voice against questions encroaching on the rights of the provinces.
