Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, said that “enough is not made” about the damage that social media can cause children because it appeared during the unveiling of a memorial in New York dedicated to young people who, according to him, died because of this, reported the information partner CBS Network BBC News. Harry attended the event with his wife, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex.
“The easiest thing to say is to keep your children away from social media” to protect them, said Harry.
The memorial, which will be open for 24 hours, is made up of 50 smartphones which each displayed an image of a child who, according to the organizers, lost his life because of the social media, reported the BBC.
Prince Harry and Meghan supported families who say that social media played a role in the death of their children and supported calls to technological businesses to share information from these children’s phones with parents.

“It is a universal truth that our children are in danger by what is happening online,” said Meghan. “I think that for those who choose to be online and be on social networks – as adults too – that we can give an example and really put as much good and joy in the world as possible.”
A number of families in the United Kingdom went to New York to ask for better protections for children from technological companies. Some of them participated in a separate demonstration outside the Meta offices.
Among these families were Ellen Rome, the mother of a 14 -year -old, Jools, who died in 2022. Roome thinks that this happened after an online challenge turned badly and that her social media accounts could have evidence, the BBC reported. An investigation revealed that Jools died by suicide.
Meta said he had recently presented Special accounts for adolescents with improved protections. “We believe that adolescents deserve coherent protections on all the different applications they use – not just our platforms,” Meta said in a press release at the BBC.
“We are simply grateful that our children are too young to be on social networks at this stage,” said Harry on Thursday. The children of Harry and Meghan, Archie And Lilibetare 5 and 3.
