The PMDC softened the merit criteria of 5% for students who seek to be admitted to MBBS and BDS programs across the country.
The unique relief aims to fill vacant seats, following a request from the University of Medical Sciences and Health of Liaquat, Jamshoro, Sindh. The University has urged the PMDC to relieve admission criteria due to a large number of non -filled seats.
After an in -depth deliberation, the PMDC approved relaxation in the public interest. However, this concession will only apply for the 2024-25 academic session. The MDCAT will not use it as a precedent in any other admission process.
According to PMDC, the initiative was taken to fill vacant seats across the country. He ordered medical institutions to complete the admission process within the given time.
Sources have said that medical colleges are now authorized to admit to students with a minimum of 50% for MBB and 45% for BDS according to revised criteria. Up to 116 MBBS and 338 BDS seats are vacant in private medicine colleges in the Sindh, while in Punjab, 26 MBB and 100 BDS seats are not filled.
