
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) alerted people to scammers usurped by official departments and the use of false sites to steal information.
In an article on X, the HEC shared a brief video and wrote: “Public alert: the crooks pretend to be HEC and use false sites to fly information. HEC never asks OTP, passwords or bank details. Report a suspicious activity to us.”
In the video, the HEC explained that the department “never calls you for the payment certificate” or “requests OTP (punctual password), passwords or bank details”.
The Education Committee has also urged citizens to be wary of calls for scam and false websites. He urged citizens not to share personal or banking details with crooks.
The HEC also mentioned that it has only one official website where all official information is provided.
“Report suspicious calls and websites to PTA (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority) assistance lines and to the National Response Center for Cyber Crime,” hec in the video.
