PPP wins NA-171 by-election in Rahim Yar Khan by overwhelming majority Blogging Sole

The unofficial and preliminary results of the by-election in National Assembly Constituency NA-171, Rahim Yar Khan, have been announced, with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidate emerging victorious.

According to media reports, PPP’s Makhdoom Tahir Rashiduddin received 116,429 votes. On the other hand, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Hissan Mustafa secured 58,251 votes.

The election was expected to be a close fight between PPP’s Makhdoom Tahir Rashiduddin and PTI’s Hissan Mustafa, with four independent candidates also participating in the race.

A total of 301 polling stations were opened in the constituency, with security provided by 2,700 police officers. Voting took place on Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. without any interruption.

This seat fell vacant following the death of PTI Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Mumtaz Mustafa. The constituency has a total of 526,973 registered voters.
